Playing high school football requires a tremendous amount of commitment, hard work and dedication to the team. As a student in high school, grades are more important and many players tend to slack off in that area. David Dziuba is a junior who currently has a 90 overall average and is also playing varsity football. During the season he works hard and shows dedication to the team and his grades.
Dziuba last year on varsity played back up wide receiver and linebacker. This year he plans to start at receiver or linebacker. He's the type of player that wherever the coach wants to put him, he has no problem playing. Whatever is best for the team, Dziuba just wants to play the game. He has had experience at the linebacker position, practicing that position ever since the beginning of his freshman year. He has started at outside and inside linebacker, so he is a very valuable piece to a team like the Raiders who are trying to rebuild their defense. As for the wide receiver position, he is trying hard to obtain the number one spot by proving to the coaches, he is better than Quadir Johnson, younger brother of the very talented Zamel Johnson, a superstar receiver for the Raiders the past years who is now moving on to college.
One interesting thing about Dziuba is he's always had the built for the quarterback position. He's tall, good arm and he's a lefty. The coaches recently just took notice of his potential at quarterback and are starting to think about converting him to the quarterback position. Dziuba also has a little brother on junior varsity named Tom who plays lineman.
The best part about Dziuba's talent is his ability to compete on the field and his studies. If Dziuba were to start this year, he would be a prime candidate for Scholar Athlete of the Year. The award goes to a high school athlete who can perform on and off the field, just like Dziuba but a teammate and friend of Dziuba is Omaru Kabia. He has a 95 average and started over Dziuba at wide receiver their junior varsity years. So this year you will see competition between the two good friends. You can catch Dave wearing the number 46 jersey, playing any linebacker position, wide receiver or maybe quarterback.
