Lady Raiders Softball Profiles: Jamie Forlenza

There are not many teenage girls who can call themselves multi sport athletes like Jamie Forlenza. The Port Richmond Varsity Softball team has a record of 11-6 so far this season and they are ranked third in the PSAL! Forlenza, who is a sophomore, plays a key factor to the team's success. Batting in the clean-up sport (more known as the number four spot) in the lineup and patrolling left field for the Raiders, wearing number eighteen. She has been shifted around the lineup recently, but she is an everyday player that teammates and classmates love.

Forlenza also plays on the varsity basketball team where she plays shooting guard and wears number thirty-five. Unlike softball, Forlenza does not start on the basketball team. She plays behind the veteran juniors and seniors on the team. Next year she hopes on getting her turn at starting at the shooting guard position.

It all started in Westerliegh, a small town in Staten Island. Forlenza started playing basketball at Holy Family Church and has continued ever since. She also started playing softball for Westerliegh little league in the fourth grade. If you ask Jamie she'll most likely say she is better at softball, considering she is a starter in softball. The fact is, Jamie has been playing both sports for almost 7 years now and with that experience it helped her gain her way on to both the softball and basketball Port Richmond High Scholl varsity teams in the beginning of her freshman year! Not many teenage girls are athletes, and even more are not multi sport athletes, but Jamie Forlenza definitely is not.
