Revenge! Bethpage Takes Out Division

By: Michael Niczky -

In order to win the conference, the Bethpage Varsity Tennis Team must have the best record and win all of the tie-breaks. In this particular conference, Bethpage’s only real competition is Levittown Division, who handed them their only loss by a score of three to four. In order to gain the lead in the conference, Bethpage had to beat Levittown Division just to tie them and win five or more of the matches to gain advantage in a tiebreaker.

In the most greatly anticipated match of the year thus far, Bethpage came out on top by a score of 6-1. Scott Jackson, Ryan Rivera, and Steve Trifilio all won their matches easily, and they all remain undefeated on the season. Third singles, Johnny Kim, and the pairing of Bert Geng and Stephen Ro also won their matches.

But don’t give all the credit to the players. Coach Franzke did a fine job of reminding all of the doubles players to hit their volleys cross court and “end the point immediately.” “CROSS COURT!” he would yell from the other side of the court.

With the win, Bethpage is now 7-1, and creeping closer to a conference championship.BETHPAGE TENNIS
