Raider Football Profiles: The Johnson Family

The Johnson family has been a big part of the Port Richmond success. Sean Johnson is a senior this year and finally won a championship during his third year on the Port Richmond Varsity football team. Jimmy Johnson Jr. older brother of Sean, played offense line for the Raiders back in the early 2000's and he was also a great talented Johnson Family member. The father of these two talented brothers is Jimmy Johnson Sr. Johnson was a lineman for the Raiders back when they were called the Minstrals and has been coaching the Varsity Football team in Port Richmond for awhile now. He's been coaching there before Vesce took over the head coaching job.

The Port Richmond offense consists of a 'Waco back' which is basically a wing running back. This year the Raiders had one of the best at that position, Sean Johnson. Johnson was a huge impact player, on defense he started at the defensive end position and on offense he got the key blocks for the running backs and he also had nice receptions while bailing out Jeremy Ramos on some nice pass blocks.

The Johnson family has been great to Port Richmond and it is sad to see their youngest son, Sean, depart already. His four years with the program went by so fast. Sean came up to varsity his sophomore year, and immediately was an impact player. Replacing Johnson's position is not certain, but it seems to be Tony 'Chico' Curtis. Chico has a great football body, not as big as Sean's but he'll be a key player for the Raiders, starting at that position.

Coming into Port Richmond, I personally did not really know anyone, but Sean was one of the few people I did know. When I used to play football, I looked up to Sean as an example. I never really played with him, but I saw his success. Watching him on varsity was enjoyable. After this year when he leaves, Port Richmond will miss him and I will also personally miss him
