Pinellas: Baseball district tournament preview
They are far from the bright lights. They are unknown faces and unfamiliar names. No camera crews rush to report their every move, record their every thought. Still, these players toil away. Some have overcome injuries. Others have filled in for those injured. They all strive as hard as the superstars, dreaming of the moment they can take their place at the top. These are the unsung heroes from some of the top baseball teams playing in district tournaments this week.

Unsung heroes: The Marauders' Dominic Delmonte was limited to a few innings on the mound last season because of injury but has bounced back to lead the team with five wins, including one against Tampa Catholic that clinched the No. 2 seed.

Unsung hero: The top-seeded Chargers have been hit by the injury bug, with four players missing time in the past month. That allowed outfielder Branden Burg to emerge as an everyday force. His run-scoring single against St. Stephens' was the difference in a game that decided the district's top spot.
