Empire State Games/ Long Island Showcase

This year the select team process has been amended to maximize the benefits for the players trying out and the players that are selected.  As you know getting the players exposure to the college level coaches is becoming more and more important and is the key to recruitment, development of the individual, and the building of programs.

Directions for how to tryout:

Individual players need to to to and click on “Summer Tryouts”.  The player should follow the instructions to register for “Empire State Games/LI Showcase” tryouts.  After completing the form online for Nassau County players will be directed to the NY State website to register directly with the State http://empirestategames.org/summer/tryouts/register.asp .  ALL PLAYERS MUST REGISTER ON BOTH WEB SITES.  The fee for the LI Showcase is $40 and there is additional fee of $10 paid directly to NY State for the Empire State Team.

Note:  The players that makes the LI Showcase teams will pay an additional $60 fee for uniforms and extras.

The following is the schedule for the NASSAU COUNTY tryouts this year:

Round 1: (1 Day tryout by age group) Selecting 136 players total

• June 15^th – Rising Sophomores Syosset HS @ 4pm – 7pm


• June 16^th – Rising Juniors Syosset HS @ 4pm – 7pm


• June 17^th – Rising Seniors Syosset HS @ 4pm – 7pm

Round 2: (2 Day tryout for all age groups together) Selecting 25 for Final 50 ESG and several players to compete for the LI Showcase.

• June 21^st & 22^nd – All Players Syosset HS @ 4pm – 7pm

Round 3: (1 Day) Final 50 Game for ESG & Select Final Teams for LI Showcase

• June 24^th – Huntington Vets Park Time: TBA

Results:

1.  13 players will be chosen to represent Nassau/LI on the Empire State Team

*  Empire State Team will practice and play tournaments together through the month of July.  The ESG Tournament will be in Buffalo July 21^st – July 25^th

2.  3 LI Showcase Teams will be selected 20 players per team per age group

*  The LI Showcase will be held in Nassau County on June 30^th time: TBA
