Nobel laureate Elie Wiesel spoke at Adelphi University yesterday, and Bethpage students were privileged enough to be there. Elie Wiesel is the author of the memoir Night, which chronicles his harrowing time spent in a Nazi concentration camp at age sixteen.

Elie Wiesel spoke of how the only way to stop genocide is to denounce it. One of his many inspirational quotes: “By being quiet, you are not helping the victim, only the victimizer.” He questioned why no one, including America, stopped the Holocaust. This is a question to which he has no answer.
