Bethpage Baseball Takes Two From New Hyde Park

By: Anthony DeDona

Bethpage Baseball 2010 036 - Cafiero - April 21, 2010 - After losing their last four games, the Bethpage baseball team had fire in their hearts during their next two games. On April 19th 2010, Bethpage took on New Hyde park. After seven long, hard-fought innings, Bethpage took the victory. Senior outfielder Kyle Tracy went 3 for 4 with a three run blast to deep right-centerfield. Junior Andrew Mirman smacked away for an astounding 2 for 4 with an RBI.

On the defensive end, sophomore second baseman Danny Tancredi stretched out in the fourth inning, making a leaping grab and swiftly doubling up the runner at second. That play saved at least one run and halted a potentially big inning for new Hyde Park. Senior Gavin Stewart earned the win, and Bethpage won 11-7.

The next day, again against New Hyde Park, Bethpage took another swing – and connected. Senior Kyle Tracy pitched a complete game, recording 12 strikeouts. Junior Leftfielder Nick Giglio had the game of his career, with an inside-the-park homerun that added three RBI to his overall stats. He also played well in leftfield, making a few running catches. Overall, it was a strong 6-2 victory for Bethpage. They hope to take this win to their next opponent, the always-tough Clark.
