On the defensive end, sophomore second baseman Danny Tancredi stretched out in the fourth inning, making a leaping grab and swiftly doubling up the runner at second. That play saved at least one run and halted a potentially big inning for new Hyde Park. Senior Gavin Stewart earned the win, and Bethpage won 11-7.
The next day, again against New Hyde Park, Bethpage took another swing – and connected. Senior Kyle Tracy pitched a complete game, recording 12 strikeouts. Junior Leftfielder Nick Giglio had the game of his career, with an inside-the-park homerun that added three RBI to his overall stats. He also played well in leftfield, making a few running catches. Overall, it was a strong 6-2 victory for Bethpage. They hope to take this win to their next opponent, the always-tough Clark.
