Bethpage had three tough games in a row, against Clark and Plainedge. They fought hard, splitting the series with the always-tough Clarke but losing the opener to Plainedge. Overall, it was a valiant effort in a losing cause, but the Eagles are determined to win this Friday at Plainedge.
On April 21st, Bethpage defeated Clarke 3-1. Winning pitcher Joey Schultheis pitched a gem, allowing only four hits with four strikeouts. Senior Anthony Imperato drove in a run. Bethpage also scored two more insurance runs in the fifth to ensure the victory.
However, on April 28th, Bethpage lost to Clarke 7-5. The next day, following the loss to Clarke, the visiting Plainedge took on the Eagles on Bethpage’s turf. This game was a slugfest. Bethpage took the early lead, with Junior Andrew Mirman and senior Kyle Tracy smacking home runs. But shortly after that, the hits stopped coming for Bethpage. Plainedge rallied in the later innings to take a 9-5 lead and the victory over Bethpage.
