On Tuesday, April 22, the Baruch Blue Devils defeated the Seward Park Campus Bears, after getting off to a rocky start.
Senior captain Lucas Vaz threw the first nineteen pitches of the game, giving up five hits and five runs, four earned. Vaz had thrown seventy pitches in a match against Washington Irving only a couple of days before. "My arm was shot! I couldn't find the strike zone," said Vaz.
Tommy "T-Bags" Nellen came to relieve Vaz on the mound, only giving up two runs and earning nine strikeouts in the rest of the outing.
The Blue Devils combined for fifteen hits and thirteen runs. Senior center fielder Samir Mekrami led the way with three RBIs.
The final score was 13-7 on a day that once seemed doubtful for the Devils.
