Osceola strands runners, falls to Braden River

Osceola had plenty of base runners in its 4A-10 district semifinal at Braden River on Wednesday, but the Warriors couldn't bring them home in a 9-2 defeat.

Osceola finishes its season 10-16.

"We just could not get a timely hit tonight," Osceola coach Calvin Van Auken said.

The game was tied 2-2 going into the sixth inning before second-seeded Braden River scored seven runs and grabbed control.

The Pirates squeezed home the go-ahead run and continued hitting in the sixth to earn a trip to Friday's district final.

Rachael Weaver drove in a run in the third inning for Osceola. In the fourth, Jasmine Acevedo tripled and scored on Carly Van Auken's single.

The Warriors, though, had runners on second and third base for four consecutive innings and couldn't convert.
